Nothing about us is ordinary. Neither are you!
We are a specially-designed dual enrollment, tuition-free public charter high school with dual college class enrollment at Riverside City College. Since 2004 we have helped MANY students — just like you — get that high school diploma. And! You can earn college credits while you do it. FREE!
Gateway College & Career Academy is an early college option for students, aged 16-21 years old, to gain college credits while obtaining a high school diploma. Located on the Riverside City College campus, in beautiful downtown Riverside, our tuition-free Riverside County charter school is dedicated to providing learners who are not on track to graduate with the opportunity to complete high school — and achieve success — within a supportive college community.
As a dual enrollment program, tuition, books and supplies associated with your college classes are paid by GCCA!
Through our dual enrollment program, you are an RCC student and gain access to all the wonderful things they have to offer (health services, bus pass, access to clubs and school events). ** Special note: Foundation is currently online only due to COVID 19. As soon as it is safe to reopen, these perks will be yours! **
In order to make this dual enrollment, dual earning and dual engagement successful for each and every unique student — we have created a ladder of options to get you there — one rung at a time. Here’s how we do it:
Bridge
The Bridge program enables enrolling after the main semesters have begun. Bridge students integrate into the school culture, complete partial credits and gain valuable life skills. With a dedicated counselor and teacher focused on this small group, Bridge students get a headstart on the next step in the journey.
Foundation
Foundation is an intensive 16-week semester with instruction in Math, English and College Readiness Skills. During the Foundation semester, you will strengthen knowledge in these core areas and all three courses count toward GCCA graduation requirements. Our college readiness course also earns students RCC credits.
Live daily classes start at 9am and run through the day with various breaks to refresh. Foundation starts at the first of every major semester; Fall and Spring.
Transition
With our Transition pathway you will have the amazing opportunity to take FREE Riverside City College courses to complete your diploma and explore your interests and dreams. While completing the requirements of a diploma, you can enrich your life with a wide variety of college courses that move you closer to your goals.
Gateway Flex!
This is the newest addition to the GCCA program options. Gateway Flex is designed for students who have limited ability to attend in-person classes. Students are able to take a mix of in-person, hybrid, and fully on-line courses, including online college credit courses and academic support sessions.
Flex students have a dedicated counselor who will learn each student’s needs, create a flexible educational plan, and adapt class schedules every semester according to each student’s personal needs.
